Mohammed Khalid
ELLICOTT CITY, MD -- DECEMBER 09: Mohammed Khalid, pictured in Old Ellicott City near where he grew up, is the youngest person ever convicted on terrorism charges in the U.S. He was arrested at 17 and spent 5 years in prison for conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists. He spent another year and a half in ICE detention as his immigration status was under question. Now a U.S. citizen, he has moved on from the troubles of his youth. Heâs a graduating senior at UMBC studying cyber security and his research involves mitigating online radicalization of young people. He has spent the last few years working with government and community actors to share his story and bring awareness to the dangers of online extremism.â¦.
