THE PLAINS, VA -- 12/20/21 -- Karen Hughes White and her sister, Angela Davidson, are descendants of Robert Hughes, and run the Afro-American Historical Association of Fauquier County.
Despite founding the museum and extensively documenting their lineage to the 17th century, they were unaware until 2021 that a family member, Robert Hughes (aka William Burns) had been lynched.
"I never thought that someone I never met⦠could have that type of internal pull on you," said Davidson.
